Welcome, mama. I’m Dara, and I’m so glad you’re here!
You’re probably wondering who I am and what this conscious parenting thing is all about. By normal standards, one might say that I’m successful. I’m an Army veteran with a degree. I pay my bills on time, and I’ve never been in any legal trouble. I own a business, attend church every Sunday, and pay my tithes.
I’ve spent my life trying to be someone my parents could be proud of. And on the surface, it looked like I had. But after having my daughter, that idea went up in flames. I didn’t realize that an aversion to touch, not having the ability to cry, and perfectionism weren’t a core part of who I was. So much of who I thought I was came from childhood trauma. I knew I didn’t want the same for my daughter, so I decided to find a different way. A better way. A way that didn’t cause harm.
After reading, researching, getting a parenting coach certification, and a word from God, I finally decided to commit fully to becoming a parenting coach. I teach parents how to create a more peaceful, connected relationship with their children without the harmful techniques of traditional parenting. In a world with more access to education than ever before, so many of us are healing from our childhoods, and we realize that the way our parents did things may not have always been the best.
But changing something that has been embedded in us from the beginning is anything but easy. It takes more than just education. It takes support, encouragement, community, and practice. Lots and lots of practice!
That’s where I come in!
The transition from traditional parenting can be challenging. Can you imagine being in medical school and learning a concept to turn around and have to perform it that same day? That’s exactly what this experience is like. You don’t get to pause parenting until you perfect your new skills. You have to learn and try it out on the fly.
Parent coaches get in the trenches with you. We partner with you by providing education, support, and strategy.
If you’re tired of the old-fashioned way and you need support in your parenting journey, schedule a free 30-minute coaching session.
I had my daughter, and I thought I would know exactly what to do. They tried to call it ‘motherly instincts’, but it was really
